Be secret and exult
Or not, that’s up to you
In handing out exams the other day, my American Lit professor suggested keeping grades to ourselves. Then he quoted Yeats from his poem To a Friend Whose Work has Come to Nothing.
Be secret and exult, because of all things known, that is most difficult.
Anyway, screw that. I didn’t wait 30-some years, overcome a childhood of disfunction, build a career, raise a child, have a successful marriage and home, and bust ass on this college degree to keep it to myself. What makes this award even more special is that Colleen was a mentor and a friend. I feel honored to be walking in her footsteps, even if a wee bit late. Onward!

Congratulations!!! We are so happy for you. The sheer determination and tenacity to accomplish what you have is remarkable. It matters. You are a force and we feel lucky to know you. Keep writing, we enjoy it so much.
Much deserved!!
